Dustin The Turkey Favourite for Eurovision Song Contest

The Eurovision Song Contest takes place on the 22nd May and it’s already bad news for Andy Abraham and The UK as Ladbrokes already have them as outsiders to take the coveted music title. Even more humiliating for The UK is that Ireland’s bizarre entry Dustin the Turkey is favourite! Ladbrokes though aren’t as up to date with the odds as Paddy Power who have odds for all countries participating this year.

At the irish bookmakers Ireland are 4-1 favourites with Russia 5-1, Armenia and Ukraine at 6-1 and Serbia are 7-1. The UK are a huge outsider at 50-1.

Normally you’d think that there’s no way in a million years that Irlande Douze Pointe is a better song than, well in fact anything, however this is Eurovision and if Lordi from Finland can win then anything can! You also have to feel sorry for Andy Abraham. He is a good singer and has a decent enough song - but apparently has no hope of winning and could also suffer the indignity of losing to a turkey puppet from Ireland!

The weather may well have washed out and winded the Cheltenham Festival but it didn’t stop Paddy Power giving racing fans some much needed entertainment. The staff congregated in their car park to bring punters the first ever Piggyham races. Take a look at the video below and enjoy the race.

Oscars 2008 Latest Odds - Who Will Win?

The nominations for this year’s Oscars have been made and speculation is already rife about who will take home the golden statuettes on the 24th February. As ever most of the awards have an out and out favourite and so you’re not going to get much joy with single bets.

Best actor will go to Daniel Day Lewis! He’s 1/8 at Coral for There Will Be Blood, However the movie is not expected to take Best Picture. There Will Be Blood is 4/1 for that Oscar whilst No Country For Old Men is odds on favourite. Usually Best Picture means Best Director but The Coen Brothers are only 5/4 with Paul Thomas Anderson for There Will Be Blood at 2/1.

Best Actress nominations don’t feature in either the two movies above and Keira Knightley doesn’t feature either for her role in Atonement, also a possible choice for Best Picture. Julie Christie is 1/3 for Away From Her and you’ll get 14/1 for Cate Blanchett to win a second oscar for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth.

Success might come for Blanchett as Best Supporting Actress - she’s at Evens for I’m Not There, but Amy Ryan in Gone Baby Gone could spring one of the night’s smaller surprises. There’ll be no surprises in Best Supporting Actor though with Javier Bardem for No Country For Old Men likely to get the award.

BBC Sports Personality of 2008 - Latest Odds Already?

Paula Radcliffe is also at 6’s, and in Olympic year it could be a good chance for an athlete to pick up the prestigious title won by Joe Calzaghe in 2007. Joe is a bit of an outsider though for the 2008 title, and fellow boxers Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan are thought more likely winners.

Justin Rose is an interesting outsider. His steady climb up the World Golf rankings has been steady, and success at the majors could propel him into the public reckoning.
