The nominations for this year’s Oscars have been made and speculation is already rife about who will take home the golden statuettes on the 24th February. As ever most of the awards have an out and out favourite and so you’re not going to get much joy with single bets.

Best actor will go to Daniel Day Lewis! He’s 1/8 at Coral for There Will Be Blood, However the movie is not expected to take Best Picture. There Will Be Blood is 4/1 for that Oscar whilst No Country For Old Men is odds on favourite. Usually Best Picture means Best Director but The Coen Brothers are only 5/4 with Paul Thomas Anderson for There Will Be Blood at 2/1.

Best Actress nominations don’t feature in either the two movies above and Keira Knightley doesn’t feature either for her role in Atonement, also a possible choice for Best Picture. Julie Christie is 1/3 for Away From Her and you’ll get 14/1 for Cate Blanchett to win a second oscar for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth.

Success might come for Blanchett as Best Supporting Actress - she’s at Evens for I’m Not There, but Amy Ryan in Gone Baby Gone could spring one of the night’s smaller surprises. There’ll be no surprises in Best Supporting Actor though with Javier Bardem for No Country For Old Men likely to get the award.

With the Hollywood Writer’s strike still in progress Coral are also offering 3/1 that the star studded event goes the way of the Golden Globes! That’s probably the best bet offer of them all!
